Everyone Said Muscle Cars Were Dead; But The 2009 The Challenger?

Starting in 1976, everyone said muscle cars were dead; then, in 2008, Dodge reintroduced the Challenger, and the Dodge muscle car freaks were energized immediately. Dodge had timed it perfectly.

Building the best throwback to the 1970s that could be done, and with the (Hemi) reintroduced but an updated version again driving the Mopar fanatics nuts, and filling Chrysler’s coffers with a fresh supply of cash from sales of Dodge’s new Challenger.

In turn, it would push Ford to reintroduce their flagship muscle, the Mustang. 2005, Ford2005 Mustang reintroduced the Mustang to begin the fifth generation, and boom, the muscle car wars were back. The Ford guys went nuts buying the new Mustang.

Like animals frothing at the mouth, there were stampedes of nostalgic muscle car freaks waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Just like magic, in 2009 GM wanted a piece of the action; Chevrolet reintroduced the Camaro that had been discontinued in 2002.

The Camaro would be a throwback to 1969; now the Chevrolet guys had something to go nuts for. Sales of the Camaro were immediately on fire, and the aftermarket went crazy making high-performance goodies.

The fascination with horsepower for men will never end; we love making cars go fast. Along with making it faster, making it our car, and making it stand out are the next feats. That is not as easy as it sounds; it requires modifying the sheet metal of the car.

And this means work, and a lot of it. This is what makes froth at the mouth; we create sheet metal hood scoops and side scoops for looks and for functions such as getting fresh cool air to the engine and the brakes. It also gave our cars the flair of art.

Then came the paint, and there were Perls, metallics, and candy apples, and later came chameleon paint that changes colors. We love our cars and everything about them. We love driving them, we love modifying them and showing them off
