There are two types of paint work for your car, and it requires different ways of prepping the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think about the outcome you&#8217;re looking for. In general, there are two types of paint: the first is street paint, and the second is show paint. If you really get down in the weeds, there are more ways to paint, but all they are is short cuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The outcome of both styles of paint boils down to body work and paint prep. I will give some bullet points below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The body work is the same no matter what style of paint you choose; it is the longest part of the process. You must get the body absolutely smooth; the saying is \u201csmooth as glass\u201d. It takes hours and weeks and months of hard work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the body work is done, it\u2019s time for the primer. Primer is to smooth minor waves and pin dents, and it needs to have the body work finished to 180 grit before primer can be sprayed, and after the primer is sprayed it must be finished to 180 grit. It must be resprayed until every wrinkle and dent is gone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even aftermarket replacement parts need to be worked to make them fit your car, and this is a lot of welding and hammer &amp; dolly work; then after that, the main body work can begin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I do these articles to help you understand the process so you know if you want to build a classic car.
