Are you trying to decide what you want your classic car to be? You have three choices with this decision. They are as follows: a standard restoration, a restomod, and a full custom car build.<\/p>\n\n

  • Restoration is the process of restoring your classic car to showroom or better specs. This means quite simply that your car will be what it was back when it was brand new.<\/li>\n\n
  • Restomod is the process of combining all of the processes of a restoration with a custom car. This means that you are going to restore your car to factory or better but add some custom touches like rear disc brakes or custom wheels. It\u2019s a way to save money and still get some of the custom touches you want.<\/li>\n\n
  • Custom car: there is no limit to what your car can be when you choose this option. You will be opening your wallet for this option, but you\u2019ll never be disappointed with the outcome of your car.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    Let\u2019s dive in a bit deeper; just because you choose a restoration doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t have upgrades to your classic car. They quite simply make better versions of the old equipment.<\/p>\n\n

    You can get brake pads made from better compounds that will take the heat and abuse that brakes need to take much better.<\/p>\n\n

    • Ceramic: Made from a mix of high-durability ceramic and metallic fibers. This type of brake is high-dollar but also very high-performance, low-dust, and lasts a long time. It will improve the stopping distance of your car measurably. You will notice the difference. Below are some of the positive aspects of using this type of brake compound.<\/li>\n\n
    • Less dust<\/li>\n\n
    • Low noise<\/li>\n\n
    • Reduces stress on the rotors<\/li>\n\n
    • Low weight<\/li>\n\n
    • Reduces brake fade<\/li>\n\n
    • Optimal pedal feel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      Ceramic pads are a good choice for performance and track use, but they may not be the best choice for everyday use since they take longer to heat up.<\/p>\n\n

      These pads cost more, but they are worth it due to the fact that your rotors will last longer than metallic pads or other compounds.<\/p>\n\n

      If you’re building on a budget, you will probably use a cheaper choice than ceramic; it is the highest priced option. If your budget is the main concern, you\u2019ll certainly choose organic pads.<\/p>\n\n

      The organic pads will save you money, but you\u2019ll give up some performance, and your rotors will wear faster.<\/p>\n\n

      Semi-metallic is the middle-of-the-road choice; this is what we recommend for a daily driver.<\/p>\n\n

      It\u2019s a little more expensive, but you have the best of both worlds; it still has better stopping power than organic compound without costing as much as ceramic.<\/p>\n\n

      With a wider temperature range, the semi-metallic brakes are a good choice for any car without the high cost.<\/p>\n\n

      We suggest that you weigh all of these options for your car, give some thought to how you plan to use the car and choose wisely.
