Buying A Muscle Car For A Family Project

Buying a muscle car for a family project. If you’re considering buying a muscle car for a family project, you should take an inventory of your skills and what you want to spend.

It can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a huge ordeal and a pain right in the rear end. Make sure you have a shop located that knows how to do the things that you don’t.

Also, you should have some cash set aside to get those things done that requires a shop. Older cars don’t require as many high-dollar tools as new ones.

Below I will list a few of the things you need.

  1. Basic hand or power tools
  2. Boxes to store the parts in
  3. Plastic baggies to put the parts in and label them before putting them in the box.
  4. A camera to take pictures as you disassemble the car so you know where the parts go when you reassemble.
  5. To save money, reuse as many parts as possible.
  6. Make sure you have sourced the parts you need.
  7. The less rust that car has, the better. Even if you have to pay more for the car.
  8. Make sure that you spend the extra money to have a professional inspect the car it will save you a lot of time and money.

Remember, rust is your worst enemy; if you have to pay a bit more for the car to get rust free project in the end you will save agony and frustration.

The idea is not to compete with friends to see who can buy a project for the lowest price.

You’ll be by far the winner if you buy as close to rust-free as possible. I’d search in dry climates like Arizona and New Mexico. This will make the build process go much more smoothly.
